Privacy Policy

When you use Grove, we collect the following information:

• Account info — your email address, display name, and username (provided via Clerk authentication)
• Location data — your GPS coordinates when you search, so we can find restaurants near you. We don't store your precise location history.
• Food preferences — dietary restrictions, cuisine likes/dislikes, budget preferences, and any other profile data you provide
• Saved places — restaurants you save to your Grove, including tags, notes, and ratings
• Search queries — what you search for (used to improve results, not sold to third parties)

Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted by Supabase (servers in Singapore). Data is encrypted at rest and in transit. We don't store your passwords — authentication is handled entirely by Clerk.

Grove uses the following third-party services:

• Google Maps Platform — to search for restaurants, display maps, and show photos. Google receives your search queries and approximate location.
• Clerk — for authentication (sign-up, login, session management). Clerk stores your email and auth credentials.
• Anthropic (Claude AI) — to parse your natural-language searches and rank results. Your search queries are sent to Anthropic's API but are not used to train their models.
• Expo — for push notifications on mobile. Your device push token is stored to send you notifications.

We do not sell your data to anyone. We do not run ads. We do not share your personal information with third parties except as described above.

We keep your data for as long as you have an account. Search history is retained for 90 days and then automatically deleted. If you delete your account, all associated data is removed within 30 days.

You can:

• Export your data — request a copy of everything we have about you
• Delete your data — request full account and data deletion
• Correct your data — update your profile at any time in the app

If we make significant changes, we'll notify you in the app. Minor wording changes won't trigger a notification but will be reflected in the "last updated" date above.
